Hello, on [EMAIL PROTECTED] we are working on a OOo Art Style Guide to be used with any marketing material concerning OOo2.0. (Preliminary versions attached to Issue 54289 http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=54289)
What we still need is a short and catchy phrase we could provide in combination with our 2.0 logo for some of the materials we want to publish. It willl not fit to every paper or flyer, but as a short message it could be used with web buttons and banners, business cards, t-shirs, mugs and even as a conclusion on some flyers or in press articles. It is not necessary to unify marketing messages to one single phrase, but I'd like to get an "official" one - of course there should be different messages for special purposes! The positioner should be integrated in the logo files we are updating in the moment and a result could look like http://www.familie-dippold.de/OpenOffice.org/logo_with_positioner.png I'd propose to collect possible phrases in the next three or four days and then to vote for the best. The result could be integrated in the Style Guide and decided upon by the Community Council during the OOoCon at Koper. During the last weeks there have been many proposals for marketing texts, but IMHO some of them are too long for this use. I collected some out of the mails from Erwin, Charles, Graham, Jason and others (Thread "OpenOffice.org 2.0 messaging ideas" from 15/8/05) and removed the "OpenOffice.org 2.0" part, because the logo will stand directly over it. I modified some of them slightly in order to shorten them: - "Upgrade to data freedom" - "Upgrade to open standards" - "Upgrade to open document exchange" - "Don't sell your soul for an Upgrade, get it free!" - "For a world of freedom and choice!" - "Freedom in more than 60 languages" (modified) - "Don't care for DigitalRightsManagement - it's free!" (modified) - "Don't let others own YOUR data!" - "Be in charge of YOUR documents!" - "Be in charge of YOUR office suite!" - "For a world with more than just one office suite!" - "Be part of it!" - "Where YOU con make a difference!" - "Don't let others create YOUR office suite!" - "Hackers wanted!" - "Extreme Contributing" - "I love my office suite!" - "The passion office!" - "Passion unleashed!" - "The other 'dating' forum!" - "Be connected!" - "Make friends around the globe!" - "Do you have friends in all continents? I do!" - "Free your files!" There have been some other proposals -- add the ones you would like to take part in the vote for an "official" phrase -- and add any new ones too of course! My favourite is Erwins proposal "Upgrade to open standards", but I modified it to the phrase: "Upgrade to the Open Standard", because it can be understood in several different manners: - upgrade from OOo1.x to 2.0 because it uses the new Open Document format - upgrade (from whatever you use) to the future standard document format, which is open - upgrade (from whatever you use) to the office suite being the standard among the open source solutions - and even (if you want to have a look in the future): upgrade to the standard office suite among all, it is open - if you didn't knew by now When we start voting in 3 or 4 days I'd propose not to use our standard +1/-1 votes, because there are so many possible phrases. I'd prefer using a scale from 1 to 10. Give a 10 to the phrase you think to be the best positioner, a 9 to the second and so on. You don't have to vote for 10 phrases, but I hope we'll find a final result we can work with.
