Gizmo is another of Michael Robertson's projects--a Skype competitor. The app is not open source, but the protocol is. It's gotten some reviews touting its interface and some features as being superior to Skype, and yes, it's occasionally been called a "Skype-killer." It does look quite nice, but I have not used it a lot.
