Hello

I see no point in responding to the antagonism, sarcasm and caustic tone
in the previous post.

Daniel Carrera already knows the answers to his questions since he
participated in the discussion about the Strategic Marketing Plan (SMP),
in the discussion about where it was hosted, in the discussion about why
the format was chosen and in the discussion about the licenses used.

But just so that other subscribers have the background and answers to
the "issues" that Daniel has raised, I refer you to the [EMAIL PROTECTED]
and [EMAIL PROTECTED] list archives.

to follow another discussion that was taken off-topic and did not assist
those that were contributing positively to the SMP.

The above is just one excerpt and one of the main reasons that the SMP
was drafted and brainstormed on the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list. This
list is private to MarCons. The [EMAIL PROTECTED] list was created as
planned once the SMP was presented at OOoCon 2004.

The MarCons would be implementing the plan initially, which is why they
were considered as the core group (and ideal people) to draft the SMP
facilitated by John.

The [EMAIL PROTECTED] list and SMP at http://ooosmp.homelinux.org/ was
stated and discussed many times on the Marketing Project lists and other
general lists, see:

Follow and browse the threads if you wish to see where they led. There
are other occurrences and explanations and as some of you are aware
searching the archives is not easy, so I've stopped. Also, I am getting
a little tired of having to respond to what has become a circuitous
discussion and one that has does not assist to support active and
contributing members to the OpenOffice.org Marketing Project.

Where is that site hosted? Is it a wiki? What do you use to run it (software)? Is it easier to manage than SourceCast? Just being curious.

Oh! I see it's runing PmWiki. Great stuff! I think that's an excellent choice. This is the same Wiki we use for the OD Fellowship.
Do all the Marcons have edit access to that wiki?

I see it has a Creative Commons license. I love CC licenses. I'd like
to comment, since I've participated in the Creative Commons lists. A
lot of people don't like the "non-commercial" clause because the word "commercial" is so elusive, which in turn means that people often can't be sure if their use is allowed or not. The usual advice is to just not use the NC clause. Personally I recommend the BY-SA license (same license you have, without the NC).

Besides that nit-pick, I think it's great that Marketing has a new site outside CollabNet. Is the marketing project working to replace 'marketing.openoffice.org' by 'ooosmp.homelinux.org' ? I think migration is a very positive move by Marketing, yay!

How can marketing volunteers get access to this wiki? When do you expect that the entire Marketing site will be a wiki?

Best, Daniel.
