MS is using this sw patent case in US give fodder for marketing push:

OOo can leverage that just as well, maybe better since the upgrade to OOo
is cheaper. And, given that there are some very drastic changes to
interface and functionality in the newer versions of MSO, the upgrade to
OOo may even be a lot easier for the end user.
