I have long time ago stopped trying to find out what the development priorities for OOo/SO are, who controls them (probably someone at Sun) and how these priorities are matched against any analysis of market demands (if any such analysis are ever made). There is no bitterness in this - it's just a matter of fact that the one hand (OOo marketing) is not aware of what the other hand (OOo development) is doing, and why. Let's face it :-)

Under impression of this fact, the only thing we can really do in OOo marketing is marketing the current version of OOo as good as we can. Since we don't know if the next major version will have a mail client or not, I suggest we don't write too much about the reasons why a mail client isn't there. Instead I suggest we agree upon a list of good open source mail clients/PIM programs (primarily for Windows), make a list of these and put it of the website(s) so people can see that the fact that there isn't any mail client in OOo is not a big issue.

As far I'm concerned there are in fact some degrees of integration possible between OOo and some mail clients such as Thunderbird. It's important to point that out, too.
