I am a fan of both products and the teams that are developing both.
The friction between them is really unfortunate, and harmful for the
community of users and developers. (I know there are other
precedents, like Ubuntu and Debian, and they sometimes have spats,
but they recognize they're working toward the same general goals.)
I don't see NeoOffice as completely different than OOo; I see them as
siblings, or a close team, but in any case, they are both office
suites that support ODF! The farther that ODF spreads, the more
fertile ground OOo has to compete in.
True, this list is for OOo, but there are times when it is relevant
to talk about other projects, and even to coordinate efforts with
them. I don't think a little bit of that is a bad thing; in fact it
helps to cement OOo's position at the center of this ecosystem.
Thanks,
Ben

That's total garbage. NeoOffice is so much better than that x11

sad to see politics get in the way of a better open source program.
It's not about politics. Nobody tries to prevent anyone from
promoting NeoOffice. It's even possible for a person to work for
both products.
But since NeoOffice is another product, and this list is an
Openoffice.org list, it's simply the wrong place to work for
NeoOffice.
