Firefox's group on Facebook is sponsored, which means they pay Facebook (I
don't know what it costs) to get extra features and functionality. Included in
that, I think, is Flash content, and some other features.

Our Facebook group has been growing at a reasonable pace; we're more than 4 times larger
than when I took it over (someone else started it and abandoned it, I don't know who that
was, and that's why the capitalization in the group name is wrong:
"OpenOffice.Org").

Even with a free group, though, we have some good features that we've been exploring. I am very open to suggestions on additions and improvements and can implement them very quickly when they come. We also need to promote the group on Facebook (especially with other FOSS-related groups you are a part of) and outside Facebook. Anyone can do this part easily!

Anyone interested in this idea of having an OOo Twitter or an Otto Twitter. Would be a nice way to re-publish the OOo newsletter.
I personally hate Twitter but we should have one. Let me take this opportunity to open a discussion here with you and Ben Horst about what we could do to improve our group on Facebook?

The Firefox Group has a very 'integrated' page. Perhaps the OpenOffice.org facebook group needs a similar effort?

ah, ok. I wasn't aware.

The facebook group does appear to have some good discussion going on - and is a good platform for spam-prevention.
I guess the only thing to do now is raise awareness as you said.
