Yes, there was confusion.

A large number of people read about it on my site and others, so I
mean to say many people have read about it (and not necessarily
downloaded it).

On my site I was surprised to find that my 3.0 article was about 3x
more popular than my 2.4 articles. Still, I can see only a small
number (in the ballpark of 1%) downloaded it, so the conversation rate
is low. In other words, more people know about the developer's
snapshot (which many people thought was a beta) than your download
numbers show.

On this topic, the hyped OpenGL 3D extension for 2.4 is still not
available. I tried packaging it and failed. My conversation with
Stephan Bergmann makes me think it is not possible, but then I emailed
Thorsten Behrens who assured me it is possible.
