Ok this software is pretty awesome could be a replacement for WizIQ.
However we do need to have it on chunky servers to avoid technical
problems and handle the ammount of assitants. Should we charge a
symbolic
fee? Not because of getting money but usually a symbolic fee keeps the
citizenship civilized online in my experience.
Yes, I doubt that my little server could handle a large virtual
conference; conference rooms are limited to 16 people.
BTW, openmeetings does allow you to upload ODF documents, which is a big
plus in its favor.
I think this is a great idea. Could someone draw up a list of the
possible
techical solutions - e.g. openmeeting, dimdim, WizIq, WebEx ... with a
list of the features of each, e.g. is it open source? does it support
ODF?
does it use standard ports (like port 80 - for people behind firewalls)?
is there a hosted version available? does it require software
installation
on the client? can you share your desktop, show slides, collaborate,
chat,
talk and broadcast via webcam ...? etc
Thanks - John
WebEx is Java base, same as openmeeting.
Dim dim and wiziq is just flash.
away from that is all accesible. All of them are pretty good. However I
was interested in your comments about the whole Virtual conference idea so
we can have a 'Go' and start submiting tickets to Art, Website and start
communicating with our media partners.
