The .org is there for legal reasons (the trademark OpenOffice is owned by another party). In any case, I like the ".org" -- the first time I heard about OpenOffice.org (and that was a long time ago), I knew exactly where to go. People still use "OpenOffice" in speech, just officially, Oracle can't.
