I'm not a gitweb expert: I don't know if it can support human readable urls.
But clearly, at the moment, the gitweb conf at ASF won't support classical urls
where you add path at the end of the url. But github does a good job at it
POM contains some non build information, like urls, developers information, and
so on.
Until recently, urls were not a problem, when url of a subdirectory = url of
parent + /subdir = what everybody expected
I hate having to change whole Maven feature set just because one SCM has some
bizarre urls on some installations, then require complex algorithms to match
bizarre expectations
