I don't know either. In any case, I consider this clearly a bug of IE (I can see that <br> and <br/> each render a newline, but </br> alone?), so the question is: should we care. I'd vote for closing the issue.It's an IE issue only, I don't know how difficult can be to generate collapsed tags when content it's empty
