This may have to do with the introduction of a lifecycle for cleaning a
project. If so, it should quietly use the default lifecycle when it
cannot find a 'clean' lifecycle mapping for the 'nar' packaging.

Can you verify this by calling:

mvn clean:clean

If this succeeds, it would lead me to believe that plugin handling
itself is find, but that the lifecycle handling is a bit messed up by
the implementation of multiple lifecycles...
