I'd like to get the patch on MRELEASE-124 applied.
And it does have tests :-)

The particular feature we're most interested in is for it to insert
explict versions of the build plugins while creating the release
POM. This is a necessary prerequisite to having truly repeatable
builds. There are comments in the code to the effect that this
feature is planned, but I can't seem to find the JIRA issue that
tracks it...
