Hello,
Since a few months, some European mirrors have become increasingly
unreliable. For example, maven.sateh.com is missing some packages
which were distributed in June, mirrors.dotsrc.org is missing some
dated from February (for example, asm/asm/3.0)!
I talked to the admins of dotsrc and the underlying problem is that
ibilio is overloaded -> rsync will abort because of timeouts.
Do other people have the same problems? If so, is someone working
on a solution? For example, by creating a main site for mirrors
only (i.e. closed to the general public so mirrors can get the
updates in a timely manner). Or can mirrors connect directly to repo1?
We can start letting mirrors connect directly. Contegix has donated
all the bandwidth used thus far, I pay for the rest of it and I don't
really mind now if other mirrors want to hit the central machine
directly. The cost is not that great and will help mirrors and it's
really only the first hit . A second machine is going in and mirrors
can use that. Point anyone at the [EMAIL PROTECTED]
list and we'll start trying to get them sorted out.
Regards,
