I really think they could just end up being side by side (without root
folders for each)  and merge the root pom by hand, adding the two
core-it-* modules and setting up a "run-its" profile like the rest of
our projects.

I think the argument for doing this is that it increases the focus on
the existence of the core it suite. I really see no significant
downsides ?
