I'm hoping to eventually get HausMail to the point that it's a robust
pluggable server side SMTP protocol handler. I would also like to
move HausMail over to MINA as a sub-project. The goal would be to
create a server side SMTP protocol handler that could potentially be
plugged into Apache JAMES or other Java based SMTP servers. Whether
or not I'm ever able to find the time to bring this to fruition is
another story.

JAMES is moving away from a monolithic application towards something
more modular

If someone wanted to start helping with this goal, I would be happy to
support them but I don't have the time right now to lead such a
project. If I ever finish my masters thesis...

hausmail sounds like it might be a good JAMES subproject

if it's not under active development and you'd like to donate the code
to apache then we could import the code base using a software grant

Stefano, maybe you and I should try to collaborate and share some of
our ideas for a MINA based SMTP protocol handler. I would love to see
what you're working on.

norman, stefano and myself are all JAMES committers so that one would
be one possible venue
