Chris Janicki commented on SSHD-217:
------------------------------------
Thanks for the quick reply. The problem is actually browser-specific. Using
Firefox, that link correctly showed the list of mirrors, and when I downloaded
a file, the MD5 matched.
I had used Safari the first time. Instead of showing the list of mirrors,
Safari downloaded an 8k file with the *tar.gz name. When I unzipped that 8k
file, it was the mirrors html page (even though the unzipped file name now
ended in *.tar). How it got downloaded as a *gz instead of being displayed as
HTML is a mystery to me, but I can replicate it every time. Strangely the 8k
file length changes by a few bytes every time… maybe there is a time stamp or
some other randomness that is getting compressed differently each time.
When I click on
http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/mina/sshd/0.8.0/apache-sshd-0.8.0-src.zip
in Safari, it correctly displays the mirrors page.
> The MD5 doesn't match the *.tar.gz download

> Project: MINA SSHD
> Issue Type: Bug
> Affects Versions: 0.8.0
> Reporter: Chris Janicki
>
> I rarely run MD5 checks on downloads, so I could be doing something wrong…
> The check failed against the *.tar.gz source download here:
> In contrast, the MD5 successfully matched the *.zip download.
