First of all I'd like to thank Arjan, Dirk and Bob for responding to
my comments. There was a bit of useful information divulged there and
in other emails which I'd like to recap. Perhaps someone with Wiki
write permissions could put something up on this and we could make the
start of some kind of information available to the public ?
1) Moblin V2, currently in Alpha 1 is working towards Beta1, due
<insert month here> with further betas to follow.
2) Moblin V2 for Netbooks is expected to hit release status in late Q2
early Q3.
I assume this release will be using the current XFCE desktop setup
and have all the infrastructural
changes for fast booting etc. stabilized along with library
releases. Is this release targeted at
developers for the following....
3) Moblin V2.x (assumption on .x) will target MID devices on the
Moorsetown platform and due for
release late Q409 / Q110.
I assume this is the release where the Clutter UI etc. will be
targeted for release ?
4) Clutter based main-menu/default UI is in development (any details
on design / goals)
5) Moblin specific mail client is in development (any details on
design / goals)
6) Moblin Browser is/was in development. Not sure the current wiki
details are up to date.
7) Significant boot time savings are a key goal of the infrastructural
development of Moblin V2 with an
aggressive target of 2 seconds being the current goal.
8) A Menlo focused release of Moblin V2 is not guaranteed but a
possibility.
If there's any further information on the above, plans, ideas,
aspirations etc. then please do share them.
Kind Regards,
