Hi moblin,
i am working to bring up a usb hid device on the beta image. i am
using the libusb 0.1
and am trying to setup the usb_claim_interface().
very likely the kernel HID driver already bound to your device, and thus
you can't bind from userspace again....
sounds like whatever you're trying to do should be done from a kernel
driver...

thx Arjan,
so far everything i've read implies i can talk to this device form a
user space program.
using the libusb 0.1, i have been able to see and point at the device, i
am just now choking on the permissions
as the /etc/udev isnt setup for this device.
i'd like to avoid a kernel drive just for his device to avoid
destabilizing the kernel with another usb driver.
at least this is my hope, ...
maybe this is a good time to ask if there is a moblin team usb person?
i ask as there appears to be specialists for other software aspects of
the platform.
-OR- the usb stack is exactly as the main Linux distribution in which
case i should communicate to that group?
thx!
