Hi moblin,

i am working to bring up a usb hid device on the beta image. i am using the libusb 0.1
and am trying to setup the usb_claim_interface().

very likely the kernel HID driver already bound to your device, and thus
you can't bind from userspace again....

sounds like whatever you're trying to do should be done from a kernel driver...

thx Arjan,

so far everything i've read implies i can talk to this device form a user space program. using the libusb 0.1, i have been able to see and point at the device, i am just now choking on the permissions
as the /etc/udev isnt setup for this device.

i'd like to avoid a kernel drive just for his device to avoid destabilizing the kernel with another usb driver.

at least this is my hope, ...

maybe this is a good time to ask if there is a moblin team usb person?
i ask as there appears to be specialists for other software aspects of the platform.

-OR- the usb stack is exactly as the main Linux distribution in which case i should communicate to that group?

we don't modify the USB stack at all; working with the kernel USB group is
the right thing to do (even though you may find Intel folks there as well),
Moblin is not special in how we do USB in any way.
