Are you asking how software (in general) is installed (i.e. using yum to
install rpms from a yum repository), or just how to persist changes made
on a live image?
I'm guessing the second...
The 'liveusb' style images persist filesystem changes on the USB key, so
as long as you are not installing too much then you just yum install (or
manually install a file or rpm from some other source) just like you
would if you had installed the image.
