My objective was to install Moblin (IVI version) to the HDD of my Dell
Inspiron Mini 10, add some new drivers and other software, and then
create a new Live USB image from the HDD installation. I was successful
but it seemed necessary to use a workaround; this email is to document
and share that workaround.

I created a Live USB image with the Moblin Image Convertor tool from the
moblin-image-manager package (version 0.1-1.8, I believe, using the mic2
tools). Unfortunately, this image failed to boot completely when written
to a USB stick, dropping me to a bash 3.2 shell. The problem appeared to
be that /etc/fstab was just a copy of the version on the HDD, rather
than being patched by the tools.

There is a workaround that solved the problem (only once - I haven't the
time to reproduce the problem and test the repeatability of this
workaround). The workaround is simply to run the Moblin Image Convertor
tool again to create a second image, using the first image as the input.
This seems to patch /etc/fstab (and perhaps some other files - I haven't
checked the details). The second image boots after being written to a
USB stick.

My apologies if this is already known - I have looked through a fair
amount of documentation for mic2 without seeing mention of the problem
or a solution.

Cheers,

Sean
