I am trying to boot the Moblin Netbook image available on moblin.org on a USB
disk attached to a Nokia Booklet 3G.
It tries to boot and then just hangs with a blank screen with the blinking
cursor. I can type anything on the screen and basically use it as a text editor
but that's pretty much it. Should I use some specific kernel parameter during
booting to have a successful boot? I know this might not be a supported netbook
but is there some kernel configuration that I can use to at least see the basic
Moblin desktop?
unfortunately the Nokia Booklet contains the Menlow (US15W or whatever
marketing calls it) chipset, for which
the GPU is not supported in Linux, and thus not in Moblin.
In theory, the Moblin IVI release with the IEGD drivers included would work and
enable the use of xfce desktop. I don't think uxlaunch works too well for
launching the Moblin UX with these drivers though. I seem to recall people
having success by booting into runlevel 3, logging in and doing a startx.
IEGD is generally only for embedded systems....
