Hi folks, its been about 2 months since the last release and there have
been several changes to the Groovy support for Maven 2. I think it is time
to spin up the 1.0-beta-1 release, which includes a few significant
changes:

 * Uses groovy 1.1-beta-2 (which includes annotation and generics support)
 * Adds new Groovydoc report
 * Some simple example plugins written in Groovy

<snip>
Release Notes - Maven 2.x Groovy Plugin - Version 1.0-beta-1

** Bug
    * [MGROOVY-49] - calling a groovy plugin with -DgroupId

** Improvement
    * [MGROOVY-39] - Upgrade Ant to 1.7
    * [MGROOVY-42] - Upgrade to Groovy 1.1-beta-2-SNAPSHOT
    * [MGROOVY-45] - Add some simple modules which show how to create
Maven plugins with Groovy by example
    * [MGROOVY-50] - Upgrade to Groovy 1.1-beta-2

** New Feature
    * [MGROOVY-43] - Add a fail() helper to the default namespace for
groovy:execute
    * [MGROOVY-44] - Add support to invoke groovydoc via Maven
    * [MGROOVY-46] - Add AOP support for execute() to handle a slightly
richer Mojo instance lifecycle

** Task
    * [MGROOVY-51] - Move plexus-groovy-factory to mojo/groovy to help
keep everything in sync
    * [MGROOVY-52] - Fix site build when using groovy mojo descriptor
extractor
</snip>

I believe this is enough good stuff for an official release... so lets
have a vote :-) The latest site has been deployed (
http://mojo.codehaus.org/groovy/ ) and a fresh set of
1.0-beta-1-SNAPSHOTartifacts have been published to the usual place. I will
probably continue
to update the site more while this vote progresses.
