Just to clarify: The newer maven-clean-plugin or any other plugin in the Mojo parent only affects the build of the Mojo plugins, not their usage in other people's builds. For instance, the Maven Eclipse Plugin requires Maven 2.0.9 to properly build/test itself but still supports Maven 2.0.6 at runtime. Similar the JavaCC Maven Plugin requires Maven 2.0.6+ to build itself but runs with Maven 2.0 (mostly).
