+1 for what Grant said. 

Voting is what we do to approve a release, or, if we must, what we do
to resolve a dispute.

IMHO, this thread (like many MyFaces threads) has been a great example
of the ASF way. Everyone voiced their opinion, the group reached a
decision, and then someone actually did the work. (In truth, the only
decisions are the ones we commit.)

Someone still disagreed, and so called for a majority vote. That's
fine, but, for the record, outside of Jakarta, most ASF teams avoid
formal votes, unless it's to grade a release. The preferred path is to
reach decisions the way there were reached on this thread -- through
back-and-forth discussion.
