Right now, I don't know how any of the ADF developers feel. To move
forward, we need to hear from the individual developers, who might
become committers some day. If this is going to be a situation where
one of the ADF developers can speak for the others, then we need to
stop this right now. We need each and every ADF developer to speak for
himself or herself. And we need to them to speak on the list, and no
where else.
That's my cue, I guess. :-)
I'm highly motivated to see the ADF Faces code successfully donated to Apache and bring significant benefits to both the Apache MyFaces project specifically, and the wider JavaServer Faces community more generally. We really need to strengthen JSF to deliver more practically useful web applications.
Once the ADF Faces source code becomes publicly available, we'll be able to discuss the design merits more effectively, and decide with an open mind how best to evolve the whole MyFaces / ADF Faces codebase over time. I'm very much looking forward to those discussions, and expect to participate extensively.
I've started working on patches to MyFaces that are unrelated to the ADF Faces donation in an effort to increase karma the old-fashioned way.
Working on this stuff in the community is going to be really fun. :-)
Kind Regards,
John Fallows.
