I think MyFaces will be the looser if we split due to the "interoperability question".
to me, MyFaces is the runtime, the impl. of the spec. Tomahawk² would need a overhaul, and that is an interesting option to use Trinidad stuff in here. There is no need to kick Tomahawk out. Useful components like Scheduler are in there, also in the Sandbox. Tomahawk², optimized for JSF 1.2, could really *reuse* stuff from those other guys. Independent if Trinidad is a TLP or is just part of MyFaces. TLP can make sense, in case of to not put to much in here. I think we can compare it a bit to "Tomcat and Struts" Tomcat is a servlet/jsp container; Struts a servlet/jsp framework. MyFaces is runtime; Tomahawk, Tobago etc. are components
Compared to the "big player" (sun, oracle, exadel, jboss, .... - (if they are at all ;-) )) the user will always think WE do something wrong .....
I don't think we are loosing here or doing something wrong. It would be more critical to me, to not provide a JSF 1.2 impl, which is not the case -M
BTW: I can only speak for tomahawk, since tobago has gone a different route in many terms I don't know if and how interoperable they are or could be. Ciao, Mario
