Hi all,
PPP is required to communicate with cellular modem. This is a common
task in M2M applications.

Hi,
this questionable file can certainly be removed, I’m pretty certain users
are not depending on it. But that is a bit late for the other releases we
made with this file in them :(
Yeah, I don't think anyone will ever use PPPOE (or even PPP) in an
embedded platform. Once this is decided I will open a new [VOTE] for
rc2. If it is not decided by tomorrow, maybe we just remove those files
and release without them. And if it is decided that the files can stay
in the tree, we add them back for 1.4.0 (or 2?). Regarding the old
releases, since we just deliver source packages for mynewt-core it
should be only a matter of removing those files from the package and
upload again, right?
Modifying released software bundle is a bit questionable :)
If those files are modified in any way, also the previous signature of that
bundle would become invalid, therefore recomputing the hash would
be needed.
We should probably wait to see what legal has to say regarding the
license, and then based on that decide what to do.
