Project Sun SPOT (mirror at http://www.sunspotdev.org/ ) was exactly for such a scenario. With the NetBeans IDE and plugins for Sun SPOT development on NetBeans that enabled code-completion, and in-line help, plus tutorials, we had lots of kids developing on Sun SPOTs. Search for ‘spaughts’ on YouTube for a bunch of fun videos of stuff people did with them. dg -- David G.
