Hi Louis,

www.ooodev.org for more infos (if German is no problem)

Well, congratulations! I'd love to know how this works out, to see if
it can be used as a model.

I don't know if it would work as a model. The main idea was to support the work of the project in Germany (and Switzerland, as there are not enough peopple here to establish an own association). Our feeling was (and still is), that we need to fit to the local environment (legal problems, finding sponsors and vis-a-vis coordination are the main reasons)

I'm anxious, of course, that it may be
competing with Team OpenOffice.org e.V., which is the general OOo "bank"
in Europe (a US based one I am creating).

Well that was one of our concerns too (and Ime and others missed a number of sesions discussing with Stefan, Martin and Matthias). We will try to coordinate with Team OOo e.V. as good as we can. In fact, it was the main reason for me to accept nomination for the executive commitee, to try to coordinate with Team OOo e.V. and keep the Project more important than the association ;-)

There are also some points, where we would need to coordinate with Team OOo e.V., as we (officially) cannot support software development (if we did, we had not become "non profit" :-( )

Is this a new one?

For OOo - yes. It is not that important, as it has more local focus (bbut it is one of the oldest Linuxdays I know) .. the main reason for me to go there is, that it is at my old university (I only hope, I don't meet my old Prof., as I failed in my examinations)

Andre
