On the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list, Bryan suggested inviting Jon to submit a
splash screen, see:

I replied and cc'd in Jon, and I received a private reply to say thanks
for inviting him to submit a splash screen, and that Mozilla is still
using up his spare time.
Offlist, I received a message from a very disgruntled OOo contributer
who thought that I/we were extending the splash screen deadline in order
for Jon to participate.
We extended the deadline for the splash screen because it attracted many
more contributors both within OpenOffice.org and other online
communities. I sent an update to [EMAIL PROTECTED] rather than keep replying
offlist, see:

It is a good idea to invite other designers when you like and appreciate
their style. But at the same time, please be mindful of the many
talented artists that have and do freely provide art and graphic
elements to OpenOffice.org.
All the best
