AFAIK there are a whole bunch of different scripts used. Devanagari,
kannada, malayalam, abugida, .... 
So you need to be a little more specific (or I am mixing things up - I'm not
an expert :-)

You may check sil.org as well.

You find the fonts for linux at the same place you find the fonts for
windows... There's no difference.
