Apologies for cross-post.

Hi!

Since June of last year, Sun G11n has been working closely with Native
Lang communities of languages in which Sun has StarOffice. There are 7
such communities, covering 8 of the 10 languages.

We're happy to report and would like to acknowledge that 6 of these
communities have translated and reviewed linguistic quality of Basic
module of Online Help! Compared to the entire volume of Help, Basic is a
small component (~8400 words). However, this is an important milestone
that we (G11n and the Community) achieved together and hope that such
collaboration will grow in the next releases!

Prior to translation of Basic module, G11n language lead and the
corresponding community translators have reviewed/revised glossaries and
style guides. Here are the participating communities:

French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese,
Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese.

In the area of localization testing, we're using TCM to track and update
all our test results and manual test cases. Several communities are
working with G11n QA engineers (m79), and the work continues (more
testing in April):

French, German, Italian, Japanese,
Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese

Since we started the L10n Pilot Process, we've received many valuable
feedbacks on the tools and processes (Keep them coming!), which we
should together implement into practice so that next release can benefit
from such improvements.

Once again, thanks to all the communities mentioned, and the leads who
coordinated localization effort within their N-L communities. Let us
continue our good work and see successful release of OO.o2.0/SO8!

More details on the collaboration effort are available on the pilot
process website:
