Hi Charles,

there are other ways to contribute to documentation.
I don't think, that this the intention of Sigrid's presentation. Sigrid as well as other people working at OOoAuthors are working within the germanophone project as well. E.g. Marco, who has established the german team at OOoAuthors is working on the install guide within the germanophone project as well.

While I can certainly appreciate Daniel's attempt to answer to
difficulty of using our site's tools, I think it would certainly have
been better if he had put his talent and energy at teaching people how
to use OOo's site tools (cvs, mailing lists)rather than coming up with
an external site and incompatible licences.
I disagree .. at least for the tools. Sigrid has said something about they started using OOo-Infrastructure .. and they still use it. But the facilities at OOoAuthors site are more easy to use. (Yes, you can learn how to use issuezilla .. but this will take time .. time that many people don't like to waste ... and I wouldn't blame them for that).

Incompatible licenses is another point. But read the chatlog (and nail Daniel on that ;-) ):

<lgodard> an 'old' document is under PDL, but translated at OOoAuthors
<lgodard> what is the licence ?
<DanielC> lgodard: PDL I guess.
<DanielC> lgodard: We don't mandate any license.
<DanielC> lgodard: The *user guide* of the *English* section chose something else. That is all.

So .. I'd strongly recomment to settle this license issue ... and let people do their work.

By the way, one should be aware that by contributing works to
OOoAuthors, he/she will not be able to have it included in the official
documentation corpus of OOo. I only hope that all the OOoAuthors
contributors will realize that their only chance is that the Community
Council accepts the CC's licensing scheme.
As said above (by Daniel) , OOoAuthors does not enforce any license. You still need to agree, that your work will published under PDL, if you sign in to the OOoAuthors website. Let's work on this, thas this stays or becomes again the default for the documents.

OOoAuthors is a community fork, despite the amount of work some people
inside or outside the NLC have invested in it.

.. a fork, that wouldn't have happened, if OOo documentation project would provide help and environment for easy starting.

André
