I believe the nlc is one of the great success stories of the OOo community. If journalists ask me how many non-Sun people are working on the OOo code, I always tell them to stop being so English-centric and look at the volunteers working in the nlc. What use is great software if it's talking to you in a language you don't speak? This year's UNESCO Mother Languages Day set the theme 'languages and cyberspace' for 2006, so this is absolutely the right year for OOoConf to focus on the nlc. Charles, maybe you would like to do a keynote on 'Why OpenOffice.org in your mother language' - and call up all the nlc people at OOoConf onto the stage. Or maybe build up a display on the screen of photos all the nlc leads. It would be great if they all wore a t-shirt with the OOo logo and the word 'Why?' in their mother language. What a photo-opportunity for the press! I'd also love to see case study presentations at OOoConf 'Why OpenOffice.org in India' ... 'Why OpenOffice.org in Bangladesh' ... 'Why OpenOffice.org in Cambodia' ... etc. Or workshops 'Why OpenOffice.org is easy to localise' (or is not :-). All these presentations could then be used to build pages for the why.openoffice.org website... So you see, the Why.OpenOffice.org theme plus UNESCO's theme opens up huge possibilities for the nlc (I wonder could we get a speaker from UNESCO?). I'm not sure if that answers your question :-) John http://portal.unesco.org/education/en/ev.php-URL_ID=45647&URL_DO=DO_TOPIC&URL_SECTION=201.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
