OK, now I am a bit confused. As a lead of Slovak localization team I
see my role to be in making sure that all parts of OOo which ship with
the basic installation package are properly localized into Slovak
language. This is in my opinion following:

- Slovak locales (currency, time formats...)
- Translations of User interface and help
- Translation of all standard templates (only those shipped with basic
OOo package)
- Localization of language tools (auto-correction of typos, shortcuts,
dictionaries)

Currently I have only part 2 fully under control, but in order to
provide a good localization support I need to have possibility to
update all above mentioned. And under update I mean to have a standard
mechanism to submit localized files to OOo and to have access to the
latest un-localized (English) versions (in order to assure some
synchronization)

So now I am a bit stuck. I have people in my team, who have worked on
improving of the dictionaries and auto-correction of typos, but I have
no possibility to submit these files. (I even don't know what is this
process fro this).
I also have people who would be interested to localize (improve the
current localization) the standard OOo templates, but again I don't
know how to get it back to the source. A typical example of this is an
issue http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=91304.

As I said in the beginning I would not mind to upload the files for
Slovak language (and in case we agree on standard procedure for this
also for all languages).

I think that in case more people have the same opinion as me we could
make standard procedures for localization of all these parts of OOo (I
know that procedures for some already exists) and that would make the
life of all NL leads much more easier.

I would just like to repeat, that I don't want to bring any new
features to OOo, the aim of my team id to localize everything that
ships with standard OOo into my language.

Pavel adequately mentioned the use of CWS (Child WorkSpaces) for the "basic" package of OOo. What I was pointing out is the possibility to provide - and update- dictionnaries and templates through the mechanism extensions. If you take the case of dictionnaries, you *have to* use the extensions mechanism to provide them since the 3.0 release. I am not sure of this obligation for the templates though although it is also possible to use extensions for that. I understand you don't want to add anything more to the OOo default build, you only wish to localize it; (btw, did you check the L10N wiki ? http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Category:Localization

Additional resources can be found here, although they date from the 2.x days. I know there are also some scripts available to automate the process (Javier? Leif?)

Hope this helps,

Charles.
