There is a difference between "marketing number" and "technological number".
The
principles of semantic versioning only apply to "technological numbering". We
adhere to
semantic versioning when versining individual modules.

The "marketing number" for the whole NetBeans IDE has nothing to do with that
and can
be anything. Don't even try to find some logic in that. It is driven by
marketing ideas which
are creative, but not really scientific.

Btw. once there was a discussion about BOM

it would be great to have it one day as it nicely balances the "marketing uber
number"
with "technological numbers" of individual modules.
