I created 16 as version, so the catalog is there and can be selected in
the plugin portal.

Can we, perhaps, start with automatically verifying everything from
NB15 this time too? It would be much better for testing release
candidates.
This is harder and needs discussion. The process is:

1. Developer created plugin
2. Developer maps plugin version to NetBeans version
3. Developer requests verification for the
Plugin version <-> NetBeans version combo
4. Verifier verifies the plugin

So we need to decide how the new process should look like, then we can
see how that can be accomplished.

what if we leave the process as is for now but keep plugins in the catalog if there were verified within the last 2-3 releases.

This would also fix the problem of having an empty catalog on every new release.

I think this might improve the situation until there is a better solution.

What I had in my was this:

Add a tool to the plugin portal, that allows administrators to send
emails to all plugin owners informing them about the new version. That
way the original flow is kept, verifiers will not be faced with known
broken plugins and plugin authors are aware of the update.

I seriously missed requesting verification for newer versions.

same. Plus I believe that there are indications that some don't even know that you have to do that as maintainer. Some plugins were verified once and never again.

Do we have enough plugin verifiers? A mail sent to everyone might cause a bottleneck there.

btw do I see this correctly that there are currently just 5 plugins available for NB 15 via tools -> plugins?
