I personally think this would be a mistake anyway, and lead to project dilution, but particularly now. Not to mention there's probably a lot of discussion around UI toolkit(s) that goes into that. What I would like to see, though, is more equal billing of IDE and platform in how the project is presented. Note from the current netbeans.org homepage you'd struggle to know that NetBeans is also an RCP.
