One way to go for this may be something like Adobe CS6 splashes (Photoshop, Illustrator...) - http://techinch.com/blog/adobe-cs6-splash-screens
They combine the flat, boxed and high contrast approach as posted by Christian with some creative embellishments. I would totally dig a large one-color feather in the corner.
