Hi all,

There's a new 'wiki-convert' tool [1] that converts the files in the old wiki's DevFaq from WikiText to AsciiDoc. The tool (a Maven project that uses eclipse's mylyn wikitext) can also be used to generate markdown or xhtml.

The generated AsciiDoc files [2] contain jbake-ready metadata (:jbake-*:) [3], so we can easily add them to Wade's tooling whenever that is ready.

The generated files will need manual review, both because some minor formatting issues (syntax highlighting is guessed in some cases, as the original files missed language-specific tags) and because obsolete content.

I've modified the wiki links to point to "*.html" counterparts, so they won't work in github, but will whenever the "*.asciidoc" is jbaked with Wade's tooling.

On other news, the INFRA-15740 issue [4] about migrating MediaWiki files to Confluence has been updated recently. Gavin from infra says he'll try to find time to install the UWC tool. I am not sure 15740 is worth the effort though, if the DevFaq ends up in Wade's jbake tooling then having it in Confluence is useless.

I think we should make a final decision on whether to host the wiki at Confluence or at the website, taking into account an approximate date for the website to be available.

Cheers,
Antonio
