I presented NetBeans recently at the FOSS BackStage conference in Berlin
and basically did an overview of the current state of Apache NetBeans:

Parts of that could be useful, though you probably want to focus on the key
features and demos and so on -- and I think you could do everything in
Apache NetBeans 9, after installing the plugins for the features you're
demo-ing:

Since you'll be at an Apache conference, I strongly recommend that you do
not use NetBeans 8.2, but Apache NetBeans (incubating) 9.0.
