Hi all,

In the virtual meetup that we completed a few minutes ago (I'm working on
uploading the recording right now, will send it around when done), we
suddenly ended up talking about some kind of periodic recognition for those
who have really contributed significantly over a particular period.

I think that could be really nice, e.g., most recently in the 2nd donation
relicensing process, Thilina, Junichi, Matthias, Gilberto, amongst others,
have been doing amazing work, essential for the next release:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/2nd+Donation%3A+List+of+Modules+to+Review

https://github.com/apache/incubator-netbeans/pulls

So, what do we think about this idea? (Could also be nice for people's
resume to have something like "Apache NetBeans Developer of the Month,
August 2018", or something like that.)

Thanks,

Gj

Hmmm, how about 'contributor' instead of 'developer'? If you pick the latter, you are inadvertently leaving out non-code contributions, and I don't think that's what we should be aiming for. Documentation, evangelism, outreach and speaking about NetBeans, spreading the love for the program, should also count towards contributing to the project. We are defined by the community, not just by the code-product we produce.

With regards,
Daniel.
