Hi Robert, I'd expect an M3 release in the next couple of weeks and the first official 2.0 release should happen in the next couple of months I think. There is no official timeline as it depends on the community efforts around the remaining things we want to get it as well as the feedback from the community on the milestone releases.
Having said that, if you're new with NiFi, I'd say it is safe to start with 2.0-M2 right now as long as you're ok with doing upgrades when the next releases are going out. Some companies are already using 2.0-M2 in production use cases.
