@planetapache twitter account pointed to the recent blog by that
project [1] and in that blog they refer to 'The official Docker
Image...'.  That blog goes onto even encourage the download of nightly
builds from the apache builds server.  The blog also talks about
apache podling maturation processes and how to monitor their own
progress.  The PPMC membership/mentorship/champion reads like a whos
who of the Apache Incubator.

I feel like we're missing some detail.  Obviously we will follow ASF
policy and guidelines but clearly we're putting our own community and
growth at a disadvantage here by reading and understanding these
policies differently.

My concerns at this point aren't about NiFi but rather the
policy/guidelines.  Is this now a thread more appropriate for
general@iao?
