I agree that maintaining a fork under the NuttX organization seems like the best approach. This way, both the Espressif contributors and selected NuttX committers could have write access, which would be excellent. It allows us to unblock our patches quickly while still making it relatively easy to pull in upstream updates from the main ESP HAL, avoiding the burden of a complete rewrite.
