Hi Jehudi, I think you didn't understand the main idea, that explains why you thought it was disrespectful.
Our proposal is to have esp-hal-3rdp inside github/NuttX and not "make a fork and take over maintenance". It is not a fork, it will be transferred to NuttX, to be maintained the same way Zephyr/HAL is done there.
