Not sure it's related (I'll try now w/o patch). It works in trunk demo:

Anyway it should not prevent us to release 18.12.2. Because I guess this issue is not a blocker, even if RSS is still used nowadays:

I agree with Wiebke: it seems that the reason for the new release was not
backported to the release branch.
I also recommend to have a look at Wiebke's PR [1] as a permanent fix for the
problem.
